Important Human Truths to Remember as a Starseed
Written By Brandi Fleck
This is an exploration of what a starseed is and a list of important insights to remember to keep you grounded as you start to process the inner knowing that you might be a starseed.
I won’t bury the lead on this one.
The absolute most important truth to remember as you start exploring your starseed identity is the fact that right now, in this present moment, you are human.
There are some complexities to that idea, which we’ll explore in further depth in this article. But that’s the best place to start. Remember your humanity. Embrace it. Ground your spirituality down into your human so you can make the world a better place for all.
Ignoring your human identity while embracing your starseed identity defeats the purpose of being here on this planet now.
I’m passionate about this because the other day, I was having coffee with a good friend who has been exploring her identity as a starseed for a little while now. She said to me:
“I’m not from here!”
Then she talked about how good it feels to be awake to this knowledge and how awful it feels to be around people so stuck in the 3-D reality of Earthly trappings. I’m paraphrasing.
While I support her journey and am excited for her, I immediately felt like something was missing. I didn’t say anything at the moment, because sometimes it takes me time to process what I’m feeling and what my own inner knowing is telling me. Let’s explore that now.
What Is a Starseed?
A starseed is a term that is used in spiritual circles to describe old souls that did not originate as Earth souls. Therefore, starseeds are souls that originated where all souls originate but incarnated for the first time in other star systems, planets, galaxies, and even other universes, and now find themselves incarnated on Earth.
Many popular spiritual channelers talk about extraterrestrials and mention races such as the Pleiadians, Lyrans, Sirians, Andromedans, and Arcturians. These are believed to be the benevolent races that may have influenced our DNA and soul blueprint. There are also said to be malevolent races that have influenced our systems and tried to keep us under their control. It’s possible that if you’re a starseed, one or many of these races have influenced your blueprint as well. We all have a role to play, whether perceived as positive or negative, but that’s a topic for another day.
I believe that many starseeds are here on Earth right now, but I do not believe that all people are starseeds. This is a controversial opinion, and I know that some others with this knowledge tend to believe that we are all starseeds. Either way…
To even begin to claim the identity of starseed, you would first need to grapple with whether you believe in reincarnation and what that might mean for your own soul. Additionally, you have to grapple with whether or not you believe there is life elsewhere in the multiverse besides Earth. In my own worldview, it’s impossible that we are alone.
This starseed categorization of identity doesn’t strike me as odd at all.
After all, even if you or I originated as an Earth soul, we’re all made of stardust. The particles and elements that make up our human bodies and lives originated from outer space.
Astrophysicist Niel DeGrasse Tyson said in a 2008 appearance with a TIME magazine video series called TIME’s 10 Questions:
“The most astounding fact is the knowledge that the atoms that comprise life on Earth, the atoms that make up the human body, are traceable to the crucibles that cooked light elements into heavy elements in their core under extreme temperatures and pressures. These stars, the high-mass ones among them, when unstable in their later years, they collapsed and then exploded, scattering their enriched guts across the galaxy—guts made of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and all the fundamental ingredients of life itself. These ingredients become part of gas clouds that condense, collapse, form the next generation of solar systems—stars with orbiting planets. And those planters now how the ingredients for life itself.
So when I look up at the night sky, and I know that yes we are part of this Universe, we are in this universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts is that the universe is in us.
When I reflect on that fact, I look up, many people feel small…but I feel big, because my atoms came from those stars.”
Perhaps this is why some feel that we are all starseeds. While I believe that not all people are starseeds, it is true that while we are of the Earth in this present moment, we are also of the stars, regardless of where and when our soul first incarnated.
From Indigo Child to 21st Century Starseed
The evolution of our understanding of what a starseed is as a collective of humans is an interesting journey. Our understanding of what it means to come from the stars has expanded with our consciousness over time.
I’ve been interested in esoteric knowledge since I was a child. In my early twenties, I was introduced to the concept of an indigo child because my current stepdad (who had just met me then) believed I might be one.
Indigo children is what the spiritual community used to call a wave of children born in the 60s, 70s, or early 80s (give or take) who had a different kind of energy about them.
It was said they had indigo auras, could influence electronics with their mere presence (such as light bulbs blowing, radio interference, and even streetlights turning off and on), and that some had special extrasensory abilities.
Then, the term crystal child started appearing in the early oughts, which was a generation of children born to indigo children with even more abilities, such as extraordinary empathy and highly evolved consciousness, thought to be here to change the world through compassion.
Now, whether indigo, crystal, highly sensitive, or empathic, we’re all called starseeds. Some resources and opinions you find online will separate the distinctions from one another, but I believe they’re all just different waves of starseeds coming online to help usher Earth into a higher consciousness and therefore disrupt the status quo.
Pitfalls of Embracing the Starseed Identity
When people start to wonder if they’re a starseed, it can feel disorienting—not always, but for many. Plus, there’s a lot of conflicting information online. Relying solely on external resources for your information is one pitfall. It’s helpful to turn inward and rely on your own intuition to help you discern what’s true about this identity or not for yourself.
Once you really start to embrace being a starseed, you might fall into a common pitfall in the spiritual community where it can feel easy to “other” other people who aren’t as “far” along on their journey or who aren’t on a similar journey.
We must embrace them, no matter where they or we are in our journeys of awakening to a higher consciousness, or not. Othering people creates division and separation, but the reality of being a starseed is that we are one, even if experiencing separate identities presently. Therefore, you must avoid this pitfall and embrace the vastness of what it means to be a starseed.
You may also start to feel homesick or wish you were elsewhere.
You could feel embarrassed or like you’re making things up.
It’s also totally normal to start deconstructing any religion you may be part of once you start realizing the vastness of possibilities. Embracing this identity can change your worldview and impact almost every area of your life.
I’m sure there could be more pitfalls, but the last one we’ll cover today is also becoming ungrounded and staying in the clouds far more often than not, and therefore missing out on your gift of human life. If you feel yourself starting to resent being on Earth, not wanting to incarnate again, or just trying to “ride it out” while you’re here, there are some truths that may help.
7 Important Truths to Ground Into for Starseeds
As you explore a starseed identity, remember:
You Are Still Human and So Is Everyone Else Who’s Here
Everyone is on a different timeline to awakening, and not everyone is a starseed or meant to embrace that identity in this lifetime. That doesn’t make one identity better than the other, simply different, which is part of what makes us human.
Being human is a gift. Remembering your humanity—what makes you uniquely human—while also loving your starseed roots and perhaps longing for your old home will help you practice empathy and compassion for yourself and others during easy and hard times alike.
Embrace Your Humanity For the Gift It Is
Two seemingly contradictory truths can exist at once: you can be wholly human and also a starseed. There are parts of being human that are uniquely yours. Why waste that experience?
To embrace your humanness, you can not only remember what makes you human, but take it a step further and bring intentional awareness to what it is that makes you human. Then, practice gratitude for those traits.
You Can Connect with the Stars When You Feel Homesick
A night sky is never too far away. Put your phone away and stargaze in the grass on a blanket and think about the worlds you’re looking at. You can even put your bare feet in the grass (one of my favorite ways to connect with Earth and, by extension, humanness) on a warm night while you’re imagining what might be possible in those other worlds. Take in the expansiveness of the night sky, identify constellations, other star systems, the Milky Way if it’s visible, and think about how long it’s taken the light to reach your human eyes, here on Earth.
If you live in an urban area with light pollution, you can plan a trip to an international, national, or state park that is on the dark sky registry.
If you’re in Tennessee, Pickett CCC Memorial State Park is one of the best places to plan a dark sky trip. I saw the Pleiades star system while there, along with several shooting stars, and loved it.
Connecting with the Earth Helps Even More
Because we are of the Earth and part of Earth, connecting to her calms our nervous systems. The more regulated your nervous system is, the clearer your channel to other realms can be, and the clearer your line of communication with your intuition and higher self can be. These channels are often necessary to embrace starseed identity. So, it may sound counterintuitive, but Earth always comes first.
It’s Important to Stay Connected to Your Body
Being a starseed in a human body is miraculous. Our human bodies are the vessels that enable us to navigate such dense energies and existence as part of consciousness. Being embodied as a human offers a vast amount of experiences that are good and developing for our souls.
If you find yourself dissociating even when not in danger, constantly thinking of the past or future, constantly longing for another home, or simply ignoring your body, you may find that you’re not accepting some human parts of yourself. Perhaps they’re overwhelming or overstimulating, or even feel heavy.
Therefore, finding practices that help you stay in the present moment, bring awareness to your body, notice its sensations, and listen to what it is trying to tell you is important to experiencing human life at its fullest. You’re here now, at this time in history, as a human, for a reason. Experiencing humanness at its fullest will enrich your soul.
Not Everyone is Going to Understand You, and That’s Okay
Not everyone believes it’s possible to be a soul that originated in a different star system, and that’s okay. Not everyone will understand your longing, need for belonging, homesickness, and extraordinary gifts, and that’s also okay. Self-acceptance doesn’t rely on external validation.
Human Connection is Still Wildly Important
Just because you are a starseed and someone else may not be doesn’t mean you can’t be friends. Of course, misalignment isn’t what I’m suggesting, but embracing diversity and not being too picky is what I’m suggesting, so you can still commune and be social with other humans, which is a very human need. As humans, we need to feel we belong, and we need to be part of a social system in order to thrive in 3-D existence (and also 4-D, and 5-D).
So, find ways to make friends, play and have fun (even if you’re a serious type and are mature in general), and remember that space and isolation, while they can be enjoyable and useful, are not how humans who thrive primarily exist. Take pride in your community and involve yourself in its activities to alleviate loneliness, homesickness, or even too much focus on the stars instead of your present moment.
How to Know If You’re a Starseed
If you stay grounded, present, and embrace your human identity as part of the whole of who you are, you can harness extraordinary gifts through your human embodiment that allow you to glimpse or know the truth.
There are plenty of internet quizzes out there that claim to be able to provide this answer for you. Some credible spiritual channelers also use their intuition and psychic abilities to share information about the traits different starseeds tend to have that you can refer to. But at the end of the day, there is no litmus test that easily determines if you’re a starseed or what star system your soul originated in before it reincarnated to Earth.
If you’re questioning who you really are, where you really came from, and suspect that you’re a starseed, tapping into your own intuition will be your best guide. Your best tools will be your own inner knowing, a deep feeling of remembrance and belonging, your empathic abilities, and perhaps even psychic connections to guides from other star systems. Use your own discernment while staying grounded in human reality.
