A Personal Message from Tian Yuming

It’s hard to pinpoint where one’s journey truly begins.

Perhaps when c·vid hit, I’d just stepped out of a violent relationship and a job that came with it.

Perhaps when I was throwing spaghetti on the wall in hopes of feeling better – digging into biohacking, trying a carnivore diet for six months, fending off blue light with astronaut-sepia goggles, etcetc, finally delving into trauma.

Perhaps confronting cobwebs of pain from childhood.

Perhaps the first time gratitude journaling, finding it weird yet oddly heart opening, vulnerable in the face of doubt.

Perhaps the first time reading “The Power Of Now” 9 years back when something clicked profoundly within.

Perhaps when I took my first breath at birth, or previous births (?)

Perhaps it’s every now-moment.

I care about each of us realising the innocence, love and wisdom that we already are.

In our often siloed culture, remembering the integral nature of mindbodyspirit, science and spirituality feels important to me.

Embodying our heart of hearts can only bring about organic transformation – from the way we relate with the barista to our parents to a blade of grass by the roadside.

My intention in trauma-informed coaching is to partner clients in bringing loving awareness to our pain, shadows and gifts.

We acknowledge both our ancestral trauma and strengths.

We acknowledge both the systemic pressures we face and our innate intelligence.

We dance in both the light and shadow of life.

Not always graceful, but always honest.

And in honesty, is grace.

I’d love to connect more with you 💛

Intro - Episode 110

Today we’re talking to Tian Yuming. She’s a yoga teacher and trauma-informed certified life coach who immigrated to Singapore from China at an early age with her family. These roots have set the stage for the healing journey and expertise Yuming shares with us in this episode.

The most prominent thing I noticed about Yuming when we first met is the presence she brings to her interactions. It was so comforting and interesting to experience. This was what inspired us to collaborate on today’s discussion.

We talk about how self discovery is healing, how to create more space by anchoring into the present moment, what it means to hold space, how to hold space, the difference between holding space as a professional versus in a dynamic relationship, when to prioritize holding space for yourself versus another person, when and how to draw boundaries, how to extend grace to yourself even if you aren’t present, when it’s okay to think about the past and future, and letting go and moving on. This discussion is a spiritual exploration based on a foundation of trauma and somatic training, so you’re in for a treat where science meets spirituality. Yuming focuses on connecting mind, body, and spirit, and this discussion is an extension of that focus.

There are many fantastic take aways from today’s episode, but my absolute favorite is when Yuming says “Compassionate witnessing is where the healing takes place.” Be sure to let me know in the comments what your favorite take away is too.

And by the way, Just so you know, Yuming is offering a free, virtual, trauma-informed life coaching session exclusively for Human Amplified listeners, so if you’d like to get in on that goodness, you can schedule your free session with her now — I’ve put the link for that in the show notes and if you're watching on YouTube, you can find it in the description of this video. You’ve probably seen acupressure products before, maybe in your FB feed or something like that. It could be for any number of brands, but it’s a fact that the Bed of Nails is the Swedish original. I’ve been using the Bed of Nails mat and pillow since 2012, before they were popular, no joke. I personally remember when no other products were widely available and when I was scared to even try it. But, I did try it.

When you lay on it at first, it can get a little uncomfortable, but that’s short-lived. After a few minutes, your back gets warm, starts pulsing, and then starts to relax. You quickly get used to distributing your weight on the bed of nails and it’s nothing but a welcomed reprieve from a stressful day.

Over the years it’s helped me increase circulation, relax, and reduce pain in my back and neck - something you can probably relate to needing help with, yeah? I also use my bed of nails every single time I meditate. I love it.
